Burton Kia - Car Dealer Website Development

Kambara has just launched a new website design for Burton Kia at www.burtonkia.co.uk. Designed and built to meet specific business needs of one of the UK's most successfull KIA franchised dealerships, the project involved producing a completely new website from the ground up. Built on top of the class-leading Drupal Content Management System (CMS) the site delivers an array of functionality including a back end admin system for the management of new and used car inventory. 

Burton Kia came to us through a recommendation with the need to produce a new website in a short timescale so it was all hands to the pump, and the project was delivered on budget and within the 6 week timescale. As soon as we had set up the DNS and hosting on our servers, an attractive holding page was immediately put up stating that the full site was under development. 

We entered initial discussions with the client where we took the background of the business and it's operations in to the kambara design process and the first phase was completed when a set of design ideas were presented to the client.  After some discussion we then entered the technical specification and development phase which proceeded smoothly and we're happy to say the client relationship was extremely smooth, with good communication and resolution of any issues.

The primary need was to deliver an exceptional user experience - the bar is set high by the automotive manufacturer's huge investment in websites, and we aimed to make this site be able to stand along side the standards of the KIA website and other competing manufacturers. New cars particularly are high value products and the presentation must be seductive and attractive to provide an experience online that delivers the values of the manufacturer, and gives the customer the desire to make a significant investment in buying a new car.

In addition to the "fit" with the manufacturer's brand values, as a retail channel the car sales website needed to give the dealer the flexibility to promote special offers and actively sell the values of their operation including building trust in terms of servicing, warranties. We also looked to provide an open and welcoming look and feel alongside the products' seductive qualities, to reflect the dealers focus on customer service. 

The system included a lead generation function, where a customer can make a direct enquiry on any specific car, new or used, and the dealership receives notification through the website in real-time with full customer details, tagged to the specific car or service that the customer is interested in.

The website also needed to work effectively as an online marketing platform to reach new customers inside the franchised dealer geographic area. Among other aspects we built in were SEO-friendly URL's, content and coding, support for Google Analytics to track conversions and on-site activity, and help with setting up Google Places, Google AdWords and Social Media all based around the website as the core.
